RTA signed an expansion of the Dubai Metro Dh680m contract with Serco from the UK

The agreement is estimated to be Dh680 million over a two-year period, the RTA said Monday.

"Tasks and maintenance by certain organizations reduce metro operating costs because private organizations can provide astounding administration and implementation at lower costs through continuous improvement and pricing," said Mattar Al Tayer, chief general and RTA administrator.

"This allows RTA to concentrate on its central obligations to enforce and manage usage and implementation."
